ReplyDeleteLearning the Module 1 is really a big help for us educators, because we can integrate projects in the learning process of the students. It can help the students to enhance their ability and skills not only in a paper-pencil-test but also using their multiple intelligences. In the project-based-learning, the students can explore their creativity skills in fulfilling the assigned projects. Every student played a very important role in the project-based-learning as well as the teacher. The teacher serves as a facilitator while the students are the participants to achieved the goal of the project. Teaching and Learning process will not take place if these two important characters are not collaborating well with each other.

ReplyDeleteAuthentic Integrated Learning
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Project based learning is very essential in employing it in every educational institutions because it provides the learners a deeper content area of the knowledge,at the same time, embellish thi 21st century skills in order to extend their competencies not only for themselves but as well as to the community.
Having the students conduct a certain project, succeeding developments about the 21st century skills will follow. Since I'm an English major, i have structured a certain project that will inculcate students promotion of rich knowldege about the English language and the topic is about
ENGLISH LANGUAGE MANIA: Why study English Language? (13-16years old/2nd year-4th year highschool)
Guide questions are raised to help students be on the right track:
Why learn English Language? What will I study? How does English affects our lives? What resources will I have to access? Will I get any practical experience? What skills will I acquire? How will I be assessed? What sorts of jobs will I will get after graduating in highschool and college?
Those aforementioned guidelines will make the students explore the depth meaning of English Language through the use of wide and different resources such as English textbooks, journals, periodicals, articles, and especially the internet. Using the facilities of the school lab, the students are able to produce highly professional pieces of work: for example, many may submit their assignments as electronic documents on CD with hyperlinked sound files rsather than as traditional paper-based essays. From that the ability to be adept in accessing media and informational sites will be enhanced.
The project can be done in collaborative group works in order to experience the use of English in real context. They may either conduct an interview with teachers, play a certain mini show to portray the significance of English in our day to day endeavor. Performances will be scored through the help of rubrics. Here, the ability to join and adapt to individual differences can be further developed. Each members contributions will be of great help.
Many students choose to get some experience in an area where they are hoping to gain employment after they graduate. Some examples of work, shadowing a teacher at a school, working as a reporter on a local newspaper, a host, a librarian, journalist, arts administration, public services, retail and marketing. Self direction is fully emphasized with this kind of opportunity because they are directed to the path they ought to.
Skills that they will learn are fundamental to any future consumption and indeed for everyday life. Everyone needs to use language in order to communicate effectively. Such skills in the 21st century will be acquired:
analytical skills - understanding the language uses and attitudes
production skills - making their own language use count
research skills - learning how to gather data and material
social and cultural skills - being aware of language differences
e-skills - knowing how to communicate online
Students will be assessed by their coursework, such as essays, presentations or learning journal, portray a particular mini play in groups. At each level of study will be required to undertake a timed assignment or examination.
The summation of the project will be cater to the students by implementing such strategies and techniques in order for them to grasp the content like engaging them first in to a discussion because that could tap the learners' schema about the subject matter. Relating their prior knowledge to it would be meaningful so they will have the reason to attend to it. To be more facilitated, the efficient use of related graphic organizers can project a view of the content. In line with, this will engage the students to participate in the interaction and exchange of subtle ideas.

DEVELOPING SKILLS
ReplyDeleteModule 1 allows students to develop valuable research skills. Students are engage in design, problem solving, decision making, and investigative activities. With projects students can take problem and relate or apply it in real life situations. By this projects students could develop also their cognitive skills , technological skills and self management skills. It also expands student's interest in different things. Students could also learn on how to connect subject areas and other aspects of life. Students could gain self confidence by improving their social skills. At its best, project-based instruction can help teachers create a high-performing classroom in which students form a powerful learning community focused on academic achievement, mastery of the content, and contribution to the community.
a DIFFERENT perspective
ReplyDeleteGone were the days when the teaching and learning scenarios in classrooms were dominated by the teacher and the students passively received knowledge.
Nowadays, the realm of education offers a novel way of getting students learn more effectively and efficiently by means of introducing project-based learning (PBL). Project-based learning is a student-centered approach in engaging students to think critically, to ignite curiosity, to decide for themselves, to ask questions, and to work with others. This approach emphasizes the use of projects in the form of artifacts, poems, short stories, even dance presentation and the like to determine the students’ understanding and mastery of a certain topic.
This innovation in teaching asserts that the teaching-and-learning process is dynamic. There is NO definite approach that would address the needs of students from divergent generations. Approaches are introduced from time to time in order to ascertain the students’ comprehension or achievement on the target learning objectives of a particular topic.
Contemplating on these things, I have a blithe feeling deep within me because now I understand the reasons why projects are given by teachers to students. Before, I thought teachers required students to make projects just for completion’s sake or to give their students something to do. I grin as I remember my father’s bitter sentiments on my projects even on some of my teachers back then when he used to scold me because of my persistent request for money to buy stuffs for my projects. “Nanu nanaman? Enala petugut papagawang project. Ala nalang balung pagawa kekayu.” (hihi J) Also, I’m jubilant because students are seen as ACTIVE thinkers (as they should be). Students are thinking minds that need scaffolds to make learning at its best. There’s a DIFFERENCE from my previous perspective with my current stand today. After our discussion on the first module, I was able to deem and recognize the vital contribution and preparation exerted by teachers in a PBL classroom. Teachers serve as the guide or coach of the students in arriving at their projects. They (teachers who wholeheartedly think and prepare plans for the students’ projects) deserve commendations for facing the challenges of long-life preparations to make students learn. On the part of the students, they are believed to learn better by exposing themselves to the real world. Doing projects enable the students to express their creativity, and artistry; and to decide what they think is best for them. Also, joining collaborative groups encourages the students to mingle with others, to share their thoughts, to develop interpersonal skills. I thank the Lord, because even before I knew this PBL I already experienced it from my previous teachers. In all honesty, I learned to decide for myself, to think creatively, and to immerse myself with other people’s ideas and thoughts. It’s much enjoyable learning things as you do them.
As a future teacher, I begin to have a clear snap of ‘the world…’ I will join in the near future.

Using Project Based Learning is very useful for the students to enhance their knowledge, abilities and skills. In fact, it is very essential to use in every academic situation. And for us future educators, it is also a big help in integrating projects in the stages of the development of every student. The students and the teacher must play an important role in a classroom setting. The students are the learners, while the teacher serves as their informational instructor to achieve their goals.
ReplyDeleteOn the Four Walls of the Classroom
ReplyDeleteStudents learn diversely to one another, they act diversely to one another. Learning takes place anywhere, but most of the time pupils learn the basic things as they meet the four walls of the classroom.
One particular thing in assessing ones mental ability is by giving projects to your apprentices. Giving projects to students is really an important thing to consider. Basically giving projects can increase pupils’ abilities on reading and can merely witness if learning occurred on the part of every pupil. It could lead to knowing some rules, principles and processes of documentary classification according to the system in action and can develop pupils’ abilities in oral communication, in particular with the oral presentation of material. Moreover, it could develop your abilities to work in a team for instance declaration of oneself, respect of others, share roles and responsibilities, respect of the decisions taken in team sort of things and the like. More likely it could, distinguish and appreciate the literary kinds and works in order to better be able to choose them according to their first choices or of what is required of them.
Basically, disseminating them is a big consideration and if they could meet up the standards you are expecting over them. In giving such project, we must consider the level of competence that our students have. We must never give so hard to make projects because it might just lead to not doing the project and simply lend a hand to their elders. So careful analyzing their ability is so important. We must clearly set our goals so that our pupils have constant things to focus on. You have to detail the facts, criteria and points to ponder as they get along the project. You must give them enough time and space so they could up bring their creativity and resourcefulness. Moreover, you must motivate them on what benefits they could from this kind of project and how will it help them. And most of all, try to consider the fact that they all don’t have the wealth to afford an extravagant one, so we must mull over that.
Summing this up, project based assessment is indeed so important. However, it is not good to just only focus on this kind of assessment. We must consider that pupils have multiple intelligence. Beyond doubt, projects could help teacher in reaching out the understanding of his pupil. It could enhance their talent likewise solving puzzles, creating realias and moreover it could integrate the subject to the real world there in to. In this way, they could enjoy and get benefits the four walls of classroom. Pupils are armed with knowledge and experiences as they go along to these walls and never be blocked by those.

ReplyDelete... I believe that Project Based Learning was design and built for the benefit of the modern students and teachers at this generation. With the kind of teaching method and the changes that needed by our education, through the help of Project Based Learning this could be attain.Project Based learning boost up the students in dependency to learn and discover new things and lessen the traditional "spoon feeding" method. Although its quite new for some and may seem to feel that this kind of learning will be difficult to facilitate and impart to the students I assure that after trying this kind of method they will realize that it is much fun but fruitful at the end than the old way of teaching. As it said in most of the advertisement, Project Based Learning is a "total package" it bring about all the positive outcome to your students specially when they really want to learn, it may also be as a motivation because PBL will definitely boost up students curiosity and determination to finish the project and wait for the outcome.
Projects: Tools for Experiences
ReplyDeleteby Cindy Sicat
With the discussion that was tackled in our Edigitech class, I was able to ponder on some matters that tapped into my future teaching plans.
Though the Project-based Learning approach is not a novel concept for us (except for the exact coined term for the subject matter), upon the implant and growth of the topic in the class, it sprouted with new ideas that I can utilize in my teaching endeavor.
I can still remember the nights when I stay late awake so I may finish the unending projects that the teachers tend to shower us. I often end up thinking of after the project is done that it will be rubbish right after it was graded. Some of the heavily persevered projects end up in boxes or worse, in trash bins. Good thing I keep mine. Now that I was able to take up education, I saw the light behind the darkness of the projects' burdens that they seemed to throw us.
Being a believer of John Dewey's "learning by doing" concept, projects indeed are of great help in helping the student achieve a higher degree of mastery. It can be intertwined with what the cliche "Experience is the best teacher" tells us. A person will never know how it feels to get hurt through words and books only. These will only describe and narrate but will never let you feel it. In the first place, the authors who wrote those concepts may had the writings originate from their own experiences. Once the person got personally hurt, he would have a pool of words to describe it for the core is in him already. The root is there.
Projects functions the same way. They serve to imprint the lessons by making their students spend more time with the topic regarding the project. Can you forget something that you worked hard for that easy? In almost all aspect, of course not.
Edgar Dale's cone of experience also says that people remember 90% of what they say as they do; thus, through the projects and reports, the lessons are deeply instilled in the learner's mind. Maybe because he had spent time with the topic and had with it strings of emotions as he prepared and presented it in the class, it will have a good retention in his memory. The psychomotor memory may also be injected in the cone of experience where in the person's muscles or motor skills may help in the recall of the specific learning that transpired before.
Through the discussion of Project-Based Learning Approach, the clarification of the projects' real purpose transpired. Through these projects, the cognitive, affective, social and leadership skills of the students will be cultivated and developed. A student may learn the topic, work with his groupmates, build rapport and improve his self-confidence in a simple production of a play or a movie clip done in groups. Learnings and discovery that he will experience during the process he will not experience in the four corners of the classroom. He will also be geared towards competence in different aspects as he develops his 21st century skills. He will learn of things that he won't extract from the pages of his book. He can acquire wisdom aside from the fed knowledge.
Projects can bring forth rich learning opportunities to learners. They may seem to be tedious and simply time-consuming, the benefit is simply subtle. It is happening and what it gives the students is the wisdom from knowledge aside from the skills. Projects are tools for experiences. They really are.
I hope I can fully use the particular approach after two years.
LEARNING BY DOING
ReplyDeleteAs we discussed Project Based Learning (PBL), I realized that it opened me to a lot of possibilities on how to conduct teaching (as a future educator, God willing). One thing that I understand about PBL is that the learning should not be confined in the four corners of a classroom instead; you should let your student explore the world. PBL is a total opposite of Traditional approach in teaching which is primarily centered on the teacher- the primary source of information. But as I learned from my teachers today, the trend now in teaching is a “student-centered” approach.
Projects are the spring boards of the learners in learning. Through accomplishing different kind projects they will not only gain knowledge but also develop their different skills. Projects are meaningful assignments given to the students which are often prompted by authentic questions and task. These will require them to show their performance in a certain area that will give them the chance to use their skill and can mean of an assurance of developing the 21st century skills.
What good about PBL is that it can cater diverse students. In practicing PBL, you can lessen the biasness happening in the classroom, the discrimination happening between the students because of their different intelligences. Often than not, students with Linguistic and Mathematical ability (the known traditional intelligences) are the one who received most of the attention. But in PBL this will give chance to every student exemplifies their different talents through the given projects. Furthermore, you do not only develop their skills but also their confidence. Because in accomplishing projects the student may feel that “they are also capable, just like the others are”.
Project based approach is also good for assessment. This will help the teachers to determine the strong and weak points of a student and that will give warnings that the teacher must adjust in order to meet the needs of the students. All in all, PBL improves teaching and the main beneficiaries of that are the students.
"the challenge of knowledge is APPLICATION"
By: Frances Pantig
Project base Learning (PBL), at first I really don’t know what is PBL and I don’t have any background about the subject. In learning the PBL there are different types of Module to undergo and understand. We just finished module one and until now I don’t fully grasp what is PBL maybe because it is new to me and I don’t have any schema about it. As I immerse myself the new approach I began to realize that it can be helpful to the class and to learn about the real life problems that could help them understand the real world. Module one provides knowledge that would help me understand the lesson. As far as I’m concerned I’m more than eager to learn the lesson because it is one way in presenting my lesson to the class.
ReplyDeleteModule one one step towards presenting the new lesson to the class and injecting knowledge about the real life situation.
can't wait to see and learn the next modules.

ReplyDeleteJourney to my EDIGITECH subject
Projects are very essential for students, for them to develop other skills not only for cognitive but also for other aspects of human being. in the 21st century, giving a projects is not easy however, if students accomplished a project that means you are gradually increasing their potentials. for the students to learn in the 21st century setting, you have to give them projects that are challenging for them at the same time they are having fun doing it. because that is most effective way of using a project in the 21st century.
using projects in a fun filled way, for example you are having an experiment in making jellatin, you can ask your students to make different design out of their projects, then the most creative and beautiful will have the highest points. on that way students will be challenge at the same time their imagination will be tickled by the task.
projects is very important. even if other teachers in the 21st century is neglecting the use of it.
What a Challenge!
ReplyDeleteThe new task given to us future teachers, is quite challenging. We need to adapt to a new face of teaching wherein we are not used to. It is a big challenge in our part to get acquainted, to acquired the needed skills and to master this kind of approach in teaching students. We need to have what it takes in teaching in the 21st century approach. May Our journey in attaining this objective be smooth and productive.
One of the strategy in teaching in this kind of approach is Project-Based Learning. In this kind of teaching, the students must provide much effort than of the teacher. They need to work collaboratively to attain learning. Also this strategy promotes different activities that will motivate students to study more because they are learning through a positive environment. Moreover, this approach will enhance the ability of the students to seek for the answers in their own and not relying solely to their teacher. The teacher is more of a facilitator than a source of all the information regarding a certain lesson.
Projects: A New Face in Learning
ReplyDeleteAfter the discussion in Edigitech, I was able to visualize the complex task that lies ahead in my future career. That task is none other than adapting to a new approach of teaching which requires multiple skills in order to employ it productively. Now it extends the requirements of being a competent and a fruitful educator. As future educator, I must face this challenge entailed by the modern trend and the changing world. But it is quite difficult for this approach is new to me.
Project-Based Learning is a new strategy in teaching that I must be acquainted with. It broadens the opportunity of the learners in maximizing learning by exposing them to a real-world problems, how to find solutions, and in applying this solutions on a target problem. Unlike in the old approach the discussion will just present the problems and solutions and it will stop there. So, what is then the essence of knowing those solutions if they are not applied? In PBL you are learning and at the same time you are reaching out and helping your community.
Moreover, PBL boosts the motivation of students towards learning. It includes varied instructional activities that will engage all students to work collaboratively and learn though the help of one another. It promotes a positive way in learning that will helps students to enjoy the process of learning for them to have a better understanding of the lesson.
The project-based learning approach creates a "constructivist" learning environment in which students construct their own knowledge. Whereas in the old school, all information was given by the teacher or the teacher is the task master in the classroom. Now in PBL the teacher will just serves as the facilitator which guides students in gaining knowledge.
JOURNEY TO DO MY PROJECT
ReplyDeletePROJECT is something to do with a particular learning that we have to learn in our daily activities. Students can meet the standard and to develop the 21st century by doing some of the project that they will encounter the whole school year. It can developed their skills in creating new ideas to communicate with others so that the intende outcomes that they've learned will enhance or improve little by little, by sharing it to the people or to some students that can inspire you to reach your goal.
In most of the time we always considered our students suggestion about the project that they will do, in case of creativity and presenting it you will come up with the good ideas that they will presented in the class.
OVER the LIMIT
ReplyDeleteProject is a project-based model and characterized by progressive elaboration: due to uniqueness and greater uncertainty, projects cannot be understood entirely at or before project starts. Therefore, planning, execution, elaboration, communication and alike play an important role to have a meaningful project.
It only means that students who are involved with projects, take a greater responsibility for their learning, they also have the oppurtunity to develop not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. With projects, students will enhance their leadership, communication skills, teamwork, cooperation and understanding ability as they think a way to make and improve their output. It is a great experience in the part of the student to surpass a number of projects which make them more creative and active doing assigned works to them. Through projects, it makes academic equal to or better than those generated by other models than to a traditional classroom activities.

My reflection on module 1
ReplyDelete(Romniel P. Garcia)E-En3
About the module 1 of EDIGITECH mostly it more on project based-learning discussions.Projects had a big roles upon the students learning process-they will develop a lot.Basewd on what I've learned to the subject the students will get the following benefits:
-in terms of their skills it will be more develop.
-it gives satisfaction on the part of the student inspite of hardship in doing school projects.
-in terms of academics they will acquire knowledge like new ideas.
-in group projects they will learn to be responsible with each other, cooperate to the works and to share thier ideas for the better resul of the project.
-they will be challenge as a student of the certain subjects.
-they will learn to apply classroom lessons to their projects.
-To develop appreciation of the their project and to their experiences.
-to be responsible in terms of knowing a lot from the project to teach/intruct their co-students.
-they will be test for being:good, responsible, committed, optimist and etc.to have a deserving higher gardes.these are just some of advantages for the students in terms of doing their projects and to know the importance of these matters in the classroom learning processes.
Teachers as a facilitator in the classroom they will be instruct and guide the students to the best result of the students projects. For the student to learn more if 21st century skills are achive.Students must think of better things to use to develop their projects.to the teachers to use also 21st century skills for having a effective learning priciples, strategies and methods.
Multimedia tools/materials are commonly use inside the classroom today. That's why it is easy to have high and effective learning today.Applying the 21st century skills in the classroom,it is very challeging for the teachers.because of advance learning materials it gives bad effect on the part of students because of being independencecy.teachers must do or think best techniques to avoid these kind of issues inside the classroom.
STAIRWAY TO SUCCESS......
ReplyDeleteProjects Based Learning are important factors that the facilitator should considered in facilitating the teaching-learning process. Also Projects serves as an avenue for the teacher to the students in imparting knowledge that will surely beneficial for both of them. Through these projects, the teacher can able to minimize time in discussing a specific unit or lesson and also with these projects the students can able to develop or enhance the 21st Century Skills, that are very important in facilitating the teaching-learning process. 21st Century Skills are very important in learning, with these projects the students can able to meet the standards and at the same time they can able to develop their skills such as accountability and adaptability, collaborative learning, etc. which isvery important and useful for them.
Projects will serve as an alternatives in enhancing the students and at the same time in administering a specific unit or lesson. Beside from the traditional paper and pencil test, discussion, lecturing, writing an essay through reflection, PROJECTS can be the dessert of all these meals so that a specific gathering could be successfully held. And also, through these projects, the students can able to learn and discover different things that they can able to use in solving real life situations.
So we must always remember that not all the learnings can be acquired through paper and pencil, discussion, reporting, etc.,there is something new that we must consider and we must implement for our future students, and we called as the PROJECT BASED LEARNING, so that we can able to attain our objectives and we will be successful in the teaching-learning process.
Learning in Projects
ReplyDeleteIn Module 1 (Project-Based-Learning) you will know and understand the different characteristics on how a project based will be done in the learning process of the learner or the the students. It is also give some information that will help us to facilitate a effective and well organize projects into our student. It will also help us as future educators in giving a projects that promotes a knowledge and skills that can help the students in their learning. will also learned as a educators the learning style of the students not just on their performance in class but also in the their projects that they did, and it helps the students to show their creativity as well as the personality that the students have. It will also develop their social skills because the have a chance to interact with the other people that they will be able to accomplish their projects.
In project-based- learning the role of a teacher is to facilitate the students to accomplish their task, and will ensure that the students will learn into what he/she accomplish. That is the reason why the teacher have an important in giving the instructions that the student or the learner should in order to accomplish such task. It is also one of the reason why we need to perform a project-based-learning to our future students, to know if the students have gained learning not just into our teaching process but especially in his/her self.
Alleli P. Paras E-EN3
LEARNING Project Based Learning is really a big help for students for the reason that enhances students ability. To be more comprehensive in all ways so that he or she would be more competent. It also give learners better understanding on what are the important rules to be follow in order to be successful in a curtain matter. It does not only give them learning about paper and pencil type of examination instead they are more given such opportunities to be more productive in improving their multiple intelligence like interpersonal intelligence.
ReplyDeleteLearners serve such important role in the learning process as well as the teacher which as the facilitator of students that serves as a guide so that learners would know better and understand easier lesson regarding school matter.Another factor is the learning environment that serve students for far learning, it should be conducive for leaning purposes.I can use projects in enhancing learner self-confidence and boosting their abilities to be productive in all ways.
A CHALLENGE
ReplyDeleteAs I was about to write my reflection,
I thought of my chosen profession
That someday I will promote education,
A challenge which gives me motivation.
There is a new trend in learning,
Something which enhances teaching,
A process that we’ll be implementing
For students greater up-bringing.
Here comes the twenty-first century
Along with the skills which are necessary;
And it is a challenge to be
A teacher to teach those effectively.
It will be a noble duty
Promoting students’ responsibility
That will test teachers’ creativity
And will surely improve students’ ability.
Project – based learning instruction,
Increasing students’ disposition,
Developing their self – actualization,
Advocating better knowledge acquisition.
Students will be able to maximize multiple intelligences
By coming up with outputs and performances.
Group works may come along the process
In order to enhance learning experiences.
This will enrich students’ ability,
Instilling a sense of accountability,
Refining a skill of adaptability,
As well as creativity and intellectual curiosity.
This will advance students’ learning,
Critical and systems thinking
As they gain better understanding
Through communicating and collaborating.
There are a lot more things to impart.
As teachers, we should do our part.
We have the key to help us start;
And teach with the passion rooted in our heart.
I was inspired by what I’ve learned,
An essential knowledge I’ve earned.
I will teach students and let them turn
Into beings who could individually discern.
I’m still preparing to be a teacher,
Aiming for learning to be even better,
A challenge I now begin to bear,
A promise posted in this computer.

STUDENTS LEARNING
ReplyDeleteIn Project based learning the students can develop their skills to learn from their experiences and take them into account and apply them to their lives in the real world.
The projects can help the students to applied different techniques that promote and practices new learning habits. The students have to think in original ways to come up with the solutions to these real world problems. It helps with their creative thinking skills by showing that there are many ways to solve a problem.
In this case the students often must organize their own work and manage their own time and working together to others, to make sense of what is going on to their task. It helps a lot to capture students interest and provoke serious thinking as the students acquire and apply new knowledge in a problem-solving context.
Projects have the potential to help students learn and to enhance their skills. The students can encounter difficulties with their projects, to enhance their minds to think critically working on their projects, so that motivation and thought are sustained.

“Writing is easy: All you do is sit staring at a blank sheet of paper until drops of blood form on your forehead”
By Gene Fowler
I thought writing my first blog would be a piece-of-cake. I cannot think of any words to start describing how it happened. I am like a chameleon lost in the middle of the dessert in search for a drop of water to fulfill my thirst undying thirst for thoughts and ideas on what to write.
It has been almost two months since the vacation started and as college juniors, we are expected to exhibit more efforts and step out from mediocrity – WE ARE NEXT IN LINE!
Though I have been here in this institution for almost seven years (since high school), things sure did not changed: There are still the gardens of old buildings housing the thousands of learners and students; the smell of fear and anxiety in Mathematics class; the taste of failures from losing and victories of winning; and, the clash of the orchestra of the construction site versus the teachers.
Now, thinking of becoming a part of this kind of institution someday (hopefully), I have a mission to make sure that my students will get the best of what they can learn from me. We will be entrusted with their lives as soon as they enter our classroom, so we must take on responsibility of helping them mold their future.
One way to make this vocation possible, we need to put our outmost importance on the individual’s differences by employing different kind of teaching strategies that will attend to their diverse needs. From there, you can start thinking of making them work on a Project-based Learning (PBL) where the student is the focus of the learning process. This is the most effective way of determining the output of your discussion because this project is motivated by the authenticity factor – making a concrete, useful product that has a real-life basis.
Sophisticated planning of a PBL is very important in making this program successful. The innovation of the technology is also the evolution of teaching. Before, during the dark era of the Traditional Approach, students are passive learners where they only repeat or recall on what has the authoritarian teacher had presented. Most of the assessment are paper-and-pencil test where only the knowledge, comprehension, and application level is measured. Unlike in Communicative Language Approach, children now are free to learn, think, and say something. They have the freedom to explore things through different ways like making a PBL. Through this, the children do not only manifest their creativity, but also their other intelligences.
Knowing the 21st Century Skills is a step stone of making all of these things possible.
Learn it. Live it. Love it.

ReplyDeleteLearning with technology...
ReplyDelete[PROJECT BASED-LEARNING]
At first the whole model of PBL (Project Based-Learning) was quite vague to me,
I was nearly asked myself
like what it was all about, but as the discussion went on,
I was able to have the knowledge about the concept of Project Based- Learning,
I discovered that as a future teacher,
I should know how to employ the Project Based Learning as an approach to each student,
so as to fill the gap, for the understanding in the development of their 21st century skills.
Assigning projects to students would be a great help in developing their 21st century skills,
because Primarily PBL (Project Based-Learning) is oriented in student-centred view including;
that knowledge is constructed by students and that the teacher is a facilitator
rather than a presenter of information. I can meet the development of their 21st century
skills in assigning projects, because it includes certain strategies to keep all students
without the needs of their various learning styles. They will be able to improve these tenets
such as:
-the reliance on active rather than passive learning,
-an emphasis on deep learning and understanding,
-increased responsibility and accountability on the part of the student,
-an increased sense of autonomy in each student
-an interdependence between teacher and learner,
-mutual respect within the learner teacher relationship,
(on the situation where in the teacher gives the guide for their project)
-and a reflexive approach to the teaching and learning process on the part of both teacher and learner.
The use of project will be a good springboard for the teacher
in the enhancement of the learning of students. Because in projects,
they are called upon by the teacher to make many decisions for the
betterment of the project, to work collaboratively as expected,
to take initiative when needed, to make public presentations, and in
many circumstances, to have their own knowledge. Of course, at first this would
be a challenge for the students, some of them may find it very difficult,
but in the latter part of creating the project, most of them will find
the project work very interesting, because it is meaningful,
relevant to their lives. Thus, they will be more motivated, perform better
and the new learning will remain in their lives.
At the end I find the whole concept of Project Based Learning in action is interesting.

A Long Learning Journey Module 1
ReplyDeleteProject can help a student to learn through collaboration and interacting with others. A student is targeted as a centre of learning.
In the 20th Century, a teacher was the centre of learning. He/she provided everything for the student-'spoon feeding', learning, imitating, repeating after the teacher. The learning was limited. The student was not able to explore things on his/her own.
The 21st Century skills, help a student to learn through doing, researching, discover something new and see life in the real world. A student becomes creative, competence, independent and is able to apply what he/she learns from classroom to the outside classroom, that is say "to the real world and the issues concerned." The teacher monitors the learning of the student by guiding-not by doing. The interaction in the 21st Century is promoted.
I can use a project to enhance student learning when I allow them to use their skills to develop metacognitivve and cognitive thinking skills. By doing so, the student will be able to collaborate and interact with others since most of the projects are done as a group. Students will make decisions and come up with presentations and share it with the rest of the class.
The student will have a chance to make connections with other friends outside the world through the use of Internet. This will be effective only to the schools where the new technology and the use of computer is available. With this I put in mind that, my students do not know computer because the school cannot afford to have computers for the students to learn even their families do not have computers. How can I expect this technology to to be effective? Therefore, I will use projects to enhance student learning by using the facilities which are available in their environments which will promote them to learn through oral interaction instead of internet
Module 1 is all about Project Based Leaning (PBL) it is is an approach to education focusing on the needs of the students and practice where an instructor acts out . Thought this the PBL the students can enhance their knowledge and skills through an extended task that promotes students process that has the aim of augmenting knowledge, resolving doubt, or solving a problem and the intention to develop their performance. With this the the teacher can varied instructional strategies to the students so that the student then can enhance their learning ability. Through the used of technology teacher then can easily promotes the PBL when in he/she can used different kinds of Websites or some other gadgets like when the teacher used calculator or graping calculator so that the teacher then can easily inter act to the students. Also good projects must have clear objectives that align with standards and focus on what students should know as a result of their learning so that the student then can easily adapt the project that the teacher suppose to give.

Project- Based Learning is a teaching strategies that students are engaging to learning tasks. This project will help the students to motivate more in their study interest. These activity are designed to help the students to solve as problem and reflect in their learning everyday inside and outside of their classroom. In our century today, the students are required to include the different skills like the communication skills, time management skills, research skills, etc. This would be the guidance to fulfill their academic needs so that they won't be failed in their class. Thou these projects are not quietly hard to do, but it's to easy. Because the students will no longer do this project and they will ignore them.
Project is important especially to the students who are encounter problem in their study, this would be the key to answer their problem. The students have hard time to do this project and it would be present what their project all about. The students have opportunity to develop their ability to function their thinking skill that will reflect to their studies. In addition, the students develop their confidence and self-direction as they move through independent work.
As the result of this, they will inspire to obtain deeper knowledge of they are studying.
A ONCE A WEEK LEARNING
ReplyDeleteproject ... as we discuss what project is .. hmmm honestly I don't totally understand what project is. I used to read some article toward Project Base Learning or known as PBL. Every Monday is our EDITECH subject and we learn a lot of things on how to become a good future mentor. Base on what i've understand about the module 1 that we discuss is more on how you will hold your student at the same time you will enter them to the real world in a sense that you will apply your topic to connect it to the real world. Being a teacher is a very hard Profession. It needs more dedication and patience to your student .. In the module 1 it is more on presenting new lesson to your student that will connect them to the real world. I hope that for the next module we will fully understand on what a real teacher means even though it's only ONCE A WEEK !

ALL THINGS ARE NEW ;)
ReplyDeleteEdigitech course is so new to me, as much as all the lessons all through this subject. But it challenges me more to strive hard in researching and learning new things. As a future educator, i must not limit my knowledge of different things i would like to use as strategy for the benefit of learning of my future students. I also want to train myself this early to be well-acquainted with all the possible means to promote learning to the students, especially in this era almost all students are fascinated with the technology and one way to get their attention is to use also this means just to get their interest and at the same time learn. In module one, PROJECT-BASED LEARNING is also introduced. We got a chance to study the benefits of integrating projects to students that will develop their 21st century skills and use this to learn not just academically but with the realities of life. One of the components of PBL is to integrate students to the social issues of their community so i can say that this strategy would really be meaningful not just in their studies but by their everyday living.
Learning is not just isolated with the four corners of the classroom i believe that exposing students to the world is a vital part of learning.
Deuteronomy 6:6-9. “And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heard; and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes, and thou shalt write them upon the posts of they house, and on thy gates.”

ReplyDeleteAs a future educator you must promote a good project so as the student have more undestanding about the lesson presented.Project Based Learning is a very useful for the students, where they can easy understand the lesson or they can also relate the project for real world.Doing project is also important in the case of the student where they will found out the strenght and weakness of there own ability. The student also develop there skills by the using Projects where the teacher will be there guide. The teacher also interact or cooperate so that it is esay for the learners to follow instruction. It can also develope there creativty by The Project-Based Learning.
the secret to be a teacher
ReplyDeleteProject-based learning is one way how to be a good teacher and student. in project-based learning it is student centered approach where in the teachers is only a facilitator. This kind of learning is effective for the students to be independent, being creative, aable to think critically and apply technology to improve learning.
Module 1 is about Project Based Learning (PBL) and it is the use of classroom project intended to bring the student's learning where they use technology. These classroom projects are used to assess student's subject matter competence compared to traditional testing. (paper and pencil testing). It teaches the student to explore real-world problems and challenges. With this type of active and engaged learning, students can obtain a deeper knowledge of the subjects matter In project Based Learning, students will learn teamwork, critical thinking and communication skills. In this, students are also motivated to learn how to use new technologies to support such assignments. technology and the internet can help them do better research, analysis, and evaluation of alternative solutions, communicate and present more effectively their ideas and projects to others and learn how to collaborate and work with a distributed team. when a student is engage in a project they will have their own choices in deciding what they will work on and to plan their own project. As a future Educator, Project Based Learning is a big help because students already have a background in technology skills and the teaching process will be easier.
ReplyDeleteStudies show that reading develops imagination, induction, reflection and critical thinking, as well as vocabulary. "Reading for pleasure is the key to developing these skills. Students today have more visual literacy and less print literacy. Many students do not read for pleasure and have not for decades"
ReplyDeleteFrom student point of view, Project-Based Learning. Is learner centered and intrinsically motivating.Encourages collaboration and cooperative learning.Requires students to produce a product, presentation, or performance.Allows students to make incremental and continual improvement in their product, presentation, or performance. Is designed so that students are actively engaged in "doing" things rather then in "learning about" something. Is challenging; focusing on higher-order skills.
by doing project based learning students will able to develop their slkills:
ReplyDeletea)accountability by being resposible to his works.
b)creativity by adiding new concepts to his works.
c)information and media literacy skills by using multi media in order to produce quality work.
d)inter personal by collaborating with his classmates doing their work.
e)self direction by diong his work for the sake of learning.
f)social responsability by being concious to his environment: using re cycled materials in doing his work.
those are just samples of skills that a student will davelop with the help of PBL
we can use projects to enhance learning by promoting students learn by design, and let them do their projects the way they want in to be as long as targeted out put is achieved.in that sense learning by doing(projects)is as well achieved.

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime". I know that you here this line many times. I add this to my blog because it has a connection to our topic which is Project-Based Learning(PBL).
PBL what it is all about? PBL is all about questions and technology relative to the students' everyday lives to classroom projects. Students form their own investigation of their own group which allows students to develop valuable research skills. The students engage in design, problem solving, decision making, and investigative activities. It allows students to work in groups or by themselves and allows them to come up with ideas and realistic solutions or presentations. Students take a problem and apply it to a real life situation with these projects. Compare to the past teaching strategy wherein the instructor will just ask a question and the students will just answer it without even knowing or applying it. It is just we learn just for learning sake. But in PBL we learn and we apply it in reality and absorbed it.
Knowledge is the best charity. To learn a lesson is a far better reward than to win a prize early in the GAME. It is better to know how to help yourself than to beg from others.

ReplyDeleteI’ve learned so many things regarding the project-based learning approach. Parents, teachers, technology, and the community work hand in hand toward providing students with the real world experiences that will help and teach them to be aware and be involved in the place they live in. Project-based learning is any activity that involves students to study and interact with the real world around them. It can be a science fair or exhibit, field trip, a class in a garden, or any other learning activities that will address the multiple intelligences and learning styles of students.
ReplyDeleteStudents learn to construct their own learning because they are provided with opportunities to choose and decide with the teacher on what project they want to do and how it will be assessed. On the process, they learn and discover new things, explore into places, and meet other people. A classroom now is not anymore dominated by a teacher who dictates everything a student needs to learn and do. It is already student-centered, meaning the teacher only acts as a facilitator of learning and students are responsible and work on their own learning.
Projects require EXTRA time, EXTRA money, EXTRA effort, and EXTRA attitude to accomplish it on time or even ahead of time. That's why a teacher should be EXTRA keen and sensitive to meet the needs of students so that these EXTRA's won't go wasted and will intrinsically motivate students to learn and accomplish things. Being a student myself, I feel a sense of joy and fulfillment after completing a task or project given by my teachers. No matter hard or unattainable a project may seem to be, in the end, I’ll find a way to finish and submit it on time. And in disbelief I just sigh and realize that I made it (haha) and I learned..a lot!

The result of new understanding of human development, new perspective of the role of knowledge in learning, and new technologies useful to the schooling process is that variety of learning approaches have become fashionable and acceptable in schools.
ReplyDeleteOne of which approaches is the so-called Project-Based Learning approach. It is a student-centered, instructional model. It engage students in authentic work and develop 21st century skills. With this teaching technique students learn from experiences and take them into account and apply them to their lives in the real world. PBL promotes collaboration which students work together to accomplish goals. But although students work in groups, they also become more independent because they are receiving little instruction from teacher. Teachers will just act as facilitator/coach for learning.
PBL allows students to expand their mind and think beyond what they normally do. It addresses students' needs depending on their diversity-multiple intelligences. Project-Based serves as tool also in assessing what students learned in and beyond the the four walls of classroom. Prior to this is for the facilitator to know if instruction is congruent with the goals.
I'm pretty sure this approach will be of great help when I'm already in teaching world. I'm now trying to look forward in the complex task which lies ahead in my future career. And as for now I'm still in the process of appreciating PBL. In the past weeks, we accomplish a brochure and our unit plan. I thought such activities would be just a piece of cake. Golly! My brain squeezed. I do lack ideas. Some of my classmates asked me when we started with the unit plan, 'What is your Theme?' I haven't the faintest idea. From the moment we were ask to accomplish such, I'm totally blanked! I can't think of any topic which will address real world problems. Good thing our instructor allowed us to finish it at home. We were given an ample time, still I did not grab the opportunity to devote my time in improving such, in the end i regret. At first I was happy for I was able to accomplish those two. I'm satisfied with what I've done yet not fulfilled. I cogitate on what I have accomplished and regret that i did not put extra effort in it. Our instructor is right that we must go beyond minimum! That would be a challenge for me now in order to be competent.
Honestly, somehow I just considered projects as requirements in order to pass a certain subject but now I look into a different perspective. And though I still have some difficulties in this subject, the use of Intel Teach help me understand concepts. After the discussion in module one, I see the beauty of doing projects now.
Projects are made to seek learning and gain knowledge. And in order for us to be fulfilled in making /accomplishing projects we must have the passion and determination.
Success in any field depends on our will to conquer that field. This means three things-
First, we must have clear vision of what we want to achieve
Second, we must believe we can achieve it
Third, we must start doing it-now!

Everything has changed...
ReplyDeleteProjects are school requirements. These are part of student's life. I thought that projects are only a part of subject matter just to pass the it. But after we finished module 1, I've learned the importance of projects to students.
After Project Based Learning was introduce to us, it opened up a door that would help us become more effective teacher in the future. Project will help my student understand more the lessons that we will be discussing. It will give them authentic experience in the real world situation. Projects will also help them develop their 21st century skills. Skills that they will use to achieve their full potentials as individuals.
Projects can be use to provide them an opportunities to develop their ability and skills. Projects can provide a chance for the students to feed their curiosity and use their creativity. It enriches their knowledge and be motivated to learn on their own. By giving them projects, their decision making skills, their self-responsibility and cooperation with co-students will be develop.
These projects can be problem based that will let the students use their critical thinking skills. Giving them an opportunity to contribute in solving the problems in the community. They will not just recommend solution but actually do something to contribute in community problems.
The students will do meaningful task to learn and achieve their goals. As an educator, my role is to facilitate and guide my students in their learning.

Project as a part of Learning
ReplyDeleteWhat is Project-Based Learning (or simply PBL) all about?
At first, I don't have any idea of what it is all about and its roles and benefits. But, at the end of the Module1, there is this clear vision and understanding with PBL.
Project-Based Learning is a teaching learning approach which students are engaged in many activities that requires several steps in accomplishing this project. it involves students in problem solving which addresses real world concerns. Since students will engaged with real world problems, they will develop 21st century skills (in which they will work by group). In working by group, each of the members of the group could exercise their personal responsibility and meeting high standards and goals for one's self and others. They will also develop their creativity in doing or presenting their work with their own desire designs. Not only those skills they'll develop, they will also learn to manage their time, make their own decisions, and develop teamwork or unity. Students will be exposed in many meaningful tasks that will enhance their capability of understanding, analyzing, solving and interpreting the results. Understanding problems requires critical thinking and the ability to interpret.
As a future educator, it was indeed a big help in our part because with PBL we can require students to make some projects that will be used to measure their abilities and learning that they have acquired. With the use of PBL, students learning will not be limited with the four corner of the classroom but they will go beyond the limit and explore new things to acquire outside the classroom. With PBL, students are free to learn outside the classroom and learn through their own experiences (learning by doing).
PBL is also connected with the used of technology. Students will exposed with the used of technology so that they will become literate in using it. And, it would be easier in managing their project with the use of technology. But remember, technology only facilitates the learning of the students.

ReplyDeleteits been a while since i posted something new from my old blog and now i am task to blog a reflection regarding module 1 and its kinda hard for me to reflect on something that was kinda difficult to understand but i will do m best to reflect on what i have learned from the discussion that we had during our class.
module 1 was all about starting it all up. an introduction regarding on how we will gonna use this knowledge that we had acquired in our future career. unit plans that was instructed to us to use this as a guide on our class. project based learning that can be a great help for us in terms of teaching learning process which i think it can give a big impact on the knowledge of our future students. that's all i think may next time it will be much more better
(PBL) Philippine Basketball League este Project Based Learning pala. . . .
ReplyDeleteAt first, I thought the acronym PBL stands for the Philippine Basketball League that my older brother used to watch. What is the relevance of a basketball league to educating students?!
But hey. . . .
. . .yeah basketball league and making students learned can be the same just like their acronym are the same.
The coach is the teacher and the students are the player.
When I was in high school, I encountered many projects that are given by our teachers, some I don't know the purpose but some of them I enjoyed doing even though I don't really get a high grades on finishing them(yeah, really especially if its an art project because that is my favorite). I didn't know that these teachers are helping me practice and develop my skills for the next game of my higher years of studying just like how a coach train his players to run, jump and shoot.I didn't even imagined back then that I will also be a future coach.Little by little I can now understand why my teachers back then always give us projects.
So going on the Project based learning. It is defined as student centered and helping promote learning by assessing the performance through a product that has been made by the students. The students here are the players and the coach which is the teacher is guiding or facilitating them on his well planned instruction to win the game of learning. Students can develop self-confidence and can achieve the 21st century skills that can help them improve themselves and the society or community where they live. They are actually the ones who are doing the task, they are the ones who is playing the game and just like in a basketball game helping their team mates, being able to help the team gain points or the learning that they must achieve.Students can achieve the fulfillment of being able to apply their learning on a product that they never imagined they can do.Through the use of project based learning, students are being active in the classroom unlike on the past where the were just sitting there and listening on the teacher's discussion, and yes sometimes not. They can now plan on what to do what good moves or strategies to make and they could also develop their relationship with their classmates or their team mates in the game which is included in the 21st century skills.
I think there is still more about project based learning that I haven't discovered yet and still discovering in this subject. But I'm still willing to join the league and help win the game of acquiring and sending learning to students.

ReplyDeletemy 1st blog...
Its my first time to use a blog site and i really dont know what to do, that's why i asked my classmates what i will write in a blog? Then they told me its like a dairy or journal writng on a net. wow.. it's amazing.. And it is like a short reflection about what have you've been dicuss. ok! Let's start. . .
Our last topic in EDIGITECH was the Project-Based Learning (PBL) this was defined as an instructional model and is a student- centered. It is an extended task by means of a project and performance that will enhance the learning and skills of the students. There are lots of characteristic of a Well-design Project - Based Learning. First they must be student centered approach, that the student will engage in an open-ended authentic tasks to boost their ability in decision making and make use of their talents, they also often work in a collaborative group.
Project-Based Units Require extra Planning and preparation. To attain our goal we must plan and prepare carefully our objectives. For us to have a guide when the project is on going, and we must an assessment and evaluation to keep the student on the right track.
There is a misconception on a project approaches, because the moment that they will hear the word "project" they immediately react that this would a time consuming, lot of work and the like. That's why we need to explain to our dear student that this kind of new curriculum was a good one and lots of benefits.

Play + Learn + Enjoy = Project
ReplyDeletePlaying to the point of learning, and the fact that students tend to enjoy these, it's all about Projects. What projects are, or as we're familiar with, the Project-Based Learning (PBL).
Difficult? Tiring? Stressful? Any doubts regarding PBL? There are a LOT. Sure, it's difficult, sure it's tiring and stressful, but it's a part of the integral process for the learner. But what about the feeling of happiness once we've finished the project? What about the fact that we've learned something out of paper and pencil tests? Sure it's hard, but I really think that it's all about learning, playing, and enjoying.
Holla! It's Tarra Fenella D. Teodoro, and for me, I really think that Project-Based Learning could really, REALLY help my future students, my special students, to really work hard and improve themselves. How? Well...
Well, first, it's all about honing our students regarding the 21st century skills. I know that it seemed to be too ambitious for us SPED students to actually expect our future pupils to accomplish these, but with PBL, we could actually help our pupils to improve at least one skill, for a long time, which would be a huge accomplishment on the pupils, and also on our part. Projects can help my students, not only cognitively, but also physically, for example improving their fine or gross motor skills of our students, and at the same time, letting their creative imagination fill in the problems, and also showcasing their real and natural talents.
Projects on student learning? On our part, as future SPED educators, I think that having a project in the class, inside or outside the classroom, would really have a big impact on our student's learning. Probably, our students would have problems on cognitive and physical aspects, but with projects, these could actually help our students because it is more on the hands-on approach. The pupils themselves worked for the project that they currently have, which could probably take a longer time than on the pupils in a regular class, and we may have ups and downs, maybe more on the downs, more frustrations, struggles, difficulties, but still what is important is that the child learns something, based on mistakes, and on the successes, wherein they could use it on the near future.
Projects is also another way of noticing that our students have already improved on their part. It is very difficult for us, to have a paper and pencil testing in the class, for example, for children with mental difficulties, but with projects, it could really show how they have improved their skills, with just simple projects, such as making stuff out of clay, or drawing some objects that they like.
Projects is not also all about grades, what it actually help on the student learning, is that it's not only about cognitive and physical aspects of the child. Also, it strikes to the child's affective domain, or what he/she feels. If the child with disability, have finished a project, whether successful or not, the mere fact that this child has accomplished something is already a big deal on the part of the child, and would definitely have a big, if not ENORMOUS, boost on the self-confidence of the child, which is an integral component in the learning of these children.
Projects and Special Education is really an important factor for the child with disability. It does not only show to us that we have to simply learn something, but at the same time, with projects, the child could play while doing the project, learn while doing something new, at the same time, enjoy what they are doing, based on their interests. It's all about projects.

ReplyDeleteBlogging My Journey
Project Based Learning shifts from the traditional teacher-centered to student centered, where in the main concern is the child and how learning would take place with the use of creating a project. Projects that are being implemented in classrooms can help the child learn because it is a hands-on learning process where the teacher will just be a facilitator and students are empowered to make decisions and apply their interests and passions to culminating products and performances. But the teacher who will use PBL is challenged to integrate technology to support learning. Also, the teacher must think of projects that has real world connection and may be used on a particular subject or activity. It must also cover or address the multiple learning styles. Teachers must have extra preparation and planning so that the goals or objectives will be achieved successfully. PBL is effective with giving students the important 21st century skills and connecting ideas across subject areas.

Learning Through Projects
ReplyDeleteProject-based learning or PBL, is a dynamic approach to teaching in which students explore real-world problems and challenges, simultaneously developing cross-curriculum skills while working in small collaborative groups. It is the use of classroom projects, intended to bring about deep learning, where students use technology and inquiry to engage with issues and questions that are relevant to their lives.
It is very helpful for the students and for the teachers in employing project-based learning on their educational institutions. It develops the content area knowledge and skills of the students through an extended task that promotes students competencies in a particular learning area.
Before projects were only done in a simpler way, now involving the world of technology, projects can be modernize and more improved for the students. Having technology nowadays is very useful tool especially in making projects. You can easily surf the net on some informations you might need and some things you can use in making your projects.
When I was still in my elementary and highschool days, I've been spending lots of time and efforts just to do my projects and sometimes our projects. Being the group leader back then, I have lots of burden thinking on how to make our projects good and so that we can achieve high grades. And I'm always thinking, "What is the sense in making a project?". Now I know why our teachers back then let us make some projects. It is for our learning, and as we all know, children can learn by doing it. They can easily cope up with the lessons and can develop skills by themselves. And by this, I'm thanking all of my teachers to all of the things they have taught me throughout my educational days.
Projects: What are these?
* a set of related tasks which have a specific goal.
* an undertaking requiring concerted effort.
* an extensive task undertaken by a student or group of students to apply, illustrate of supplement classroom lessons.
There are a lot of definitions of these word, but the very thing that comes to my mind when I hear this word is that projects are some tasks you need to accomplish to have a better grade for your teacher. It needs a lot of effort and time to do this.
Now as a future teacher, I can say that I can make my students feel more fun in doing their projects. Cause students nowadays like to have fun and it is better for me to put "FUN" while learning. And especially, I am a future special education teacher. I need to look my projects for my students so that they won't feel more burden in doing it.
And who knows, maybe some of my students can develop some skills while doing these projects. (eventhough they are children with special needs)

ReplyDeleteteacher-project: student-project
Our views as students about projects are a lot different than of the views of a teacher...
As a student you might see it as a time wasting activity, costly activity, boring activity,non-beneficial activity etc...
But a teacher would see it as a time for learning beyond the four walls of the classroom, an opportunity to socialize with others at the same time learning, an alternative method for learning...
As future teachers we should keep in mind both views about project, we should be keen enough to acknowledge the the views of student and divert their pessimism about projects to optimism...yeah a teacher knows how beneficial it it for students but students at first would not acknowledge it unless you guide and enlighten them about your views.
Make them realize that through project making they learn and have fun. They no longer are confined with the four walls of the classroom. Their nose would no longer bleed because of the mind bugling theories but instead application of their learning would take place. Their social awareness and sensitivity would also be developed by the projects they would do that would concern himself/herself and the society he/she lives in.
As a future teacher learn to balance your views of projects so when you already become a full pledge teacher you would know what to do and you would know what would be a better stand. :)

ReplyDeleteThe most important knowledge teachers need to do good work is a knowledge of how students are experiencing learning and perceiving their teacher's actions
Module 1 or THE PROJECT BASED LEARNING
“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.”
Being a teacher is not an easy profession, the teacher served as a mediator of learning, carriers of either positive or negative behavior toward students. Serve as the second parent for the students, carries a big responsibility in the classroom wherein all students depend on her/him. Indeed it plays a great impact to the class to attain learning. These are only some of the things that being a teacher are facing off. Everyday different personality’s he will meet, different things or problems he encounter. But what is the real thing being a teacher?? Being a teacher is a skill, to teach concepts and served as a mediator of learning to everyone, use different strategies to make teaching and learning easy and possible to attain and to understand by the students, strategies nowadays that a teacher can use to help students learn and appreciate the lesson better. Being a teacher you should cached up with the latest trends or innovations that the society is facing right now. PBL is one of the strategies or the PROJECT BASED LEARNING. PBL is a great help to the teacher and learner itself because in the side of the learner HE CAN DEVELOPED DIFFERENT SKILLS NEEDED IN THE 21st CENTURY SKILLS, projects are easier to do because he can get easily an idea to do the project because all the situation are based on the experiences of the real world. With the help of technology, learning can be interactive and highly attainable by the students
Using a Project is a one way to promote learning, one new thing a student can experience by doing it as the quote says:
Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember involve me and I understand
Doing by yourself is one way to promote learning, new ways to be teaching and learning process be easy, new ways to retain and appreciate the lessons well.
Being a teacher you should not be stuck on the paper and pencil test, being a teacher is meeting the changes that might happen around the society, the new ways to integrate learning easily, to help students the new ways to achieve learning as I said always AIM HIGH!! AND AIM BETTER!! Because learning can be taught in many different ways, always search for better there are a lot of things that you can use to promote learning...
As I end this BLOG this is what I will say to all of us future teachers!! KUDOS

Projects play significant roles in the life of the students. Often, they are required by the teacher at the end of a grading period or a unit if necessary. The very purpose why teachers require students to come up with such is to basically measure or evaluate students' understanding about the topic that has been recently discussed. Some of the benefits that projects can incorporate to students are: enhacing students social skills or the way they interact with other people by means of group work or projects done inside and outside the school, develop their ability to think logically and rationally in every situation, practice their freedom in making decisions, establish their ability in solving problems, and develop their sense of leadership. These are just some of the benefits that students can get in doing their projects; there are actually alot of them. The corresponding benefits that students get depends on the purpose of the teacher why he/she required his/her students to come up with a project. It also depends on how the project should be done. But what is more important, that make up all these benefits is the experience that they may get before, while, and after doing the project. The experiences accorded to them shall speak to themselves whether they futher learned something out of the given task, or nothing was gained at all. Then their outputs shall be the basis for the teacher to come up with a proper judgement; whether the students learned from the recent lesson or not.
It is just so sad that some students or sometimes even parents, get to mistake projects as means of compensation to students' lack of academic competence. There are instances where parents of students failing in certain subjects get to ask the teacher "what projects can their children possibly submit in order to pass? This is definitely a wrong notion that we have to erase into our mindset because nothing can ever become a better compensation to lack of academic competence than to study hard, take our studies seriously, and at the same time, enjoy it.

ReplyDeleteProjects are not only tools or devices of the teacher in teaching or a way to asses students. We were introduced in a new idea about what is project. It is not only a project which is traditonally displayed during our highschool days but rather a work that is wortwhile and something that gives a beneficial to students. Much of it , the new concept of project I learned form my reading and last meeting in EDIGITECH is something that is student centered and problem or real situational based. The big question is that "How can project help our students meet standards and develop the 21 st century skills? "Another question post by our teacher is "How can project enhance student learning".
My answer to that is project can help students meet the standard and develop the 21st century skills by using or devising an activity in which students will be able to apply the skill and the task in our daily plan. By means of using PBL or Project Based Approach in instruction we can combine this both and apply simultanoueusly. A concrete example that I have used in my proposed unit plan is about Researching and Presentation about Wild Life issues and protection int he Philippines. This issue is very rampant nowadays at the same time it is related to my area of specialization which is Biological sciences and my topic is about animal diversity. I can make used of brochure making activity or presentation advocating this topic to my students. They will do their own and present it to the class individually and by group. By means of this activities student do not only learn in tradional classroom type which is only pure lecture type, but rahter They are exposed with the societal and environmental problem in our country at the same time they can contribute to solve the problem in their little way. Moreover as they work with their peers or own they develop some skills like collaboration with others, computer skills, social skills etc. In short they address some of the 21 st century skills. Little by little as they do the prject they realized their worth that they can do and able to do the task. They develop their self esteem or worth even it is not fully furnished, they become proud to their self just like what i've experienced in our last project which is brochure making. Even though I do not have any background info about using MS publisher, I was able tosuccessfully finish it and some of my classmates commend my output. That the design is simple but creative. There is a self fulfilment in my part.
" Always remember never give up, never give in. Try and try possible chances. Errors are not prevented because they are part of our life. As you work and try other ways, you develop and discover something new and at the end of the day you will find your self that you are able to do it.
" You can do it, Keep your best foot forward!"

Project must focus on how to impart technology in doing different activities. These activities or rather projects as a whole will serve as a first hand experience to the real world. Doing this projects the students will be able to think critically and logically. They are also able to develop the 21st century skills.
ReplyDeleteIn preparing a project the teacher must be flexible and sensitive enough to include these 21st century skills and as much as possible these projects must be beneficial to the life of their students.
Given the situation that you as a teacher is having a difficulties in teaching a particular lesson then you can let your students to make project about thet lesson or let's just take it this way a particular lesson was always taught roughly for a almost century ago to your students, and you want to give it a little twist, then you can let your students to have a project related on it. We can impart this quotation by Confucius;
"Tell me and I will Forget
Show me and I will Remember
Engage me and I will Understand."
Base on the quotation a student for instance can easily acquire information once they are the one who is doing it "Learning by Doing". And in every activity we cannot omit that sometimes students encounter problems which will serve as their training grounds before they will face the real world.

Projects are very important to us. Every time that we make projects we learn new things and at the same time we gain experiences in which we can use it in our daily life. Projects can help our future students to develop and meet the standards of 21st century skills by giving them a good project that is time bound, realistic, make them think critically, use their creativity, connect to the real world etc. By giving a good project to my future students i can help them to improve their learning by the use of technology. By using technology students will get more information about the subject, we can connect to the other people, universities and professionals to get new information in which they can gather information that they can use in their daily living and they will become aware to the things that happened around them. Studying digitech serves as an eye opener and learning new things about it makes us a good teacher. So don't quit! Study hard! We can do it and spread the things that we learn from DIGITECH!

ReplyDeleteMy Personal Perception
Projects are very essential in enhancing student learning. They must be congruent to the learning preferences of the students. Engaging students on projects in the class is a very enjoyable activity, the students will not only learn through paper and pencil test and chalkboard discussions, but also learn by doing on their own. Doing something related on what you are studying is a very effective way of learning and improving different skills you have. Project-based learning administering in schools, colleges and universities at this point is parallel to the 21st century skills. Projects given must enhance these skills; it must be based on the subject matter, the ultimate goal or the main objective/s of the course. It must be carefully studied while you are organizing bigger ideas for understanding and doing an assessment. As you organize, you will learn how to construct essential questions that will help to increase the level of thinking skills of the learners. Then as you analyze the content of the projects, that is the time that you will give the tasks of making projects to the students related to the course. Be sure that the projects you will administer will develop the 21st century skills, so that you, the educator and the students will benefit and can use the learnings in creating and developing the world into a better one.
Projects are given based on what the educator is teaching. Actually, there is no standard approach to teaching which every teacher should strive to adopt, but certain strategies are valuable in the classroom. Teaching effectively is very important in order to construct a good project. In giving projects, you must be aware of the different learning styles of the students; be careful in assessing their works because if there will be problems regarding constructing projects, the teaching and learning process will suffer.
"Teachers tend to be most effective when they teach to their own preferred style, but do so in a way that takes account of and respects different learning preferences. Effective teaching involves effective organization and management, but no single style or approach to class organization is best"
Technology is one of things that most influence the teaching and learning process at this point in time. Eventhough, many people says that it has harmful effects in the classroom like the the printing press, radio, and television, technology give humanity unbounded access to information which can be turned into knowledge. If we will just use them appropriately, interactively and with guidance, they will become tools for the development of higher order thinking skills. What more when we use them in creating projects, they will not only make them good but will make them sophisticated and useful not only for the one who made it but to all.
The benefits of projects to enhance student learning will depend on the approach of the educators and learners who make and use it. There are a lot of things that will help them to construct good projects that will benefit the humanity. It will be a great opportunity to deal with projects that help other people and give them inspiration and opportunity to do also better projects that will promote development of the society.

Learning happens in diferent ways. One way where student can learn is through projects. Projects can develop 21st century skills of the student by allowing them to think ideas on how they will come up with their project. Various ideas that may not come up with in limited way of learning. Creativity will arise to student by their unique and original style that will make them different from each other.Student will also develop critical thinking and system thinking by doing step by step process and by organizing all the things that must be included in the project. Student will be engage to group activity, given them chance to meet other people, be able to share knowledge with his/her fellow student and work harmoniously. Student will be trained to be responsible by working projects with a given time. The way student give importance to their projects is the same way they develop responsibility. The way they manipilate or make their projects reflect what person they are.
Projects can be use to enhance student learning by means of a hands-on experience or should I say learning by doing. Student get bored with classroom discussion and lectures, or by paper and pencil test. With projects, student are allow work, manipulate and create projects with their full potential and in a manner that he/she will enjoy. With projects it is not only intellectual ability that is being enhance. It also enhance psychomotor and affective domain of the student. Projects also give them opportunity to have a wide range of information necessary for learning, through this they will be able to discover, make judgement and draw conclusion based from what they have gathered. As they go with the processes student will continue to seek information and add knowledge for their benefits. They learn independently.
Through projects they will not only be familiarize with the subject but also be able to understand the lessons very well, made a realization and relate it to real life situation.
Thus, projects are really helpfull not oly on the part of the teacher but also on the part of the student.

TWIST AND LEARN!
ReplyDeleteTraditional teaching methods in where the teacher rules the class discussion is now less accepted and liked by most of the 21st century learners. The fast-phase technology could be the most suspected reason for this. We cannot ignore the fact that it influences the most of the minds of the people nowadays. We tend to rely ourselves on finding more convenient ,or should i say more entertaining and engaging, ways to supplement ourselves of what we need. This includes our thirst for knowledge which is usually imparted to us in schools by our teachers. The question is, how can be teachers effective enough to cater the needs of the 21st century learners? Is chalk-board discussion enough to assure their learning?
As educators, we do not really have to focus on giving instructions by ourselves. We have to think outside the box and find of possible ways in where our dear students can enjoy their learning. Projects that enrich learning could give ease to us teachers. Theses are called Project-Based Learning in where students are task to work on their own collaboratively and we teachers serves as their coach of just facilitators. This include varied instructional strategies to engage all students regardless of their learning style due to their diverse abilities. Since we allow students to construct their own learning and answer higher level questions their critical thinking skills could also be improved. This helps them to solve problems and work creatively. Students use technology to support them learning in PBL in where they communicate online and work in cooperation to experts. It helps students in researching and finding various strategies in solving investigations and other meaningful tasks.
However, we have to be trained enough to be able to plan and implement relevant activities that achieves learning objectives. The use of Curriculum-Framing Questions and a project approach should all work together to support the learning goals and targeted standards of the unit. Meaning projects given should be parallel to the goals. Then, we can have a basis for designing effective projects.
Though it is hard for teachers to shift to PBL and despite of the challenges they face as they shift from traditional practices, it is still worth practicing to use the strategy for it enhance the learning engagement of the learners. They develop their 21st century skills, as they would really have to because they are the present's generation. It is also beneficial for us teachers for we have less preparation on daily basis. And the biggest reason for recommendation of using projects is that it trully enhace student's learning.

this Project-based learning provides complex tasks based on challenging questions or problems that involve the students' problem solving, decision making, investigative skills, and reflection that include teacher facilitation, but not direction. Project Based Learning is focused on questions that drive students to encounter the central concepts and principles of a subject hands-on.
ReplyDeleteWith Project-based learning students learn from these experiences and take them into account and apply them to their lives in the real world. Project based learning is a different teaching technique that promotes and practices new learning habits. The students have to think in original ways to come up with the solutions to these real world problems. It helps with their creative thinking skills by showing that there are many ways to solve a problem.

Project Based Learning (PBL) compared to the traditional instructional approaches is an approach of teaching and learning process where we can enhance the quality of education or learning we give to a child. It is an approach where the student or the child is the center of the teaching and learning process. PBL may be characterized as an interdisciplinary approach since learning do not only focus on short-term and teacher-centered instruction for learning but instead is student-centered and is long-term. In Project Based Learning, students are engaged into problem-solving so as for them to give extra effort and to think critically to develop the 21st century skills and go beyond.
It is in PBL wherein we promote learning that would be meaningful for the child and would be able for the child to incorporate past ideas to the new ones. It is also in PBL where the teacher acts as a guide or facilitator of learning paving a way for students to become responsible for their own learning. It is a way wherein students are challenged to do more, know more and become better. In Project Based Learning there is more learning and less teaching. It is where students develop and learn by working on a project that will exist beyond the classroom walls.
PBL also makes connections into the real world. It is wherein problems given are somewhat related to issues and problems in the society and in the environment where the students are given the opportunity to develop and apply their knowledge and skills in solving the said problem. It is a strategy wherein we tap and connect different aspects and domains of the students.
1)Project-based learning is one way of teaching where in students are at the center of learning process. Through projects the students will develop their 21st century skills. They are expected to produce their final products in their own way of thinking and creating it. It also involves all kinds of hands-on and minds-on where in students can explore and they will deal with real world situation. In dealing with real world situation you will encounter things that will test your ability and strength. You will develop as a person or as a student if you face the problems on your own. You can think of many alternatives to solve such problems. It will enhance your critical thinking skills, mathematical skills, creativity, accountability and adaptability etc... while solving problems. If the project is effective you may see that there is a development.
ReplyDelete2. I can use projects to enhance students learning. Through projects the students will deal with actual activities or tasks. Learning while doing is much effective than just reading or explaining it to students. The students will be motivated in learning because it is enjoyable at the same time it will not be boring. Doing things on their own will help them to express what they want or how it should be presented. They are free to do things with the proper guidance of the teacher and parents.

We all know that Project-Based Learning is really a big help to the students to improve and develop their skills. This is a one way of developing the students creativity and critical thinking in a certain situation or subject. Through this they will boost their self confidence and interacting skills. Project-Based Learning is real world, relevant, and integrates the curriculum.
ReplyDeleteThrough projects students can enhance their learning process. Projects develop interest and questions the students to pursue on doing this. Through project the students develop and enhance their creativity and critical thinking skills. In project not all students do the same activities so they will have their own originality on pursuing it. Its a well fullfilling to a students when they finish their project, its like after all the efforts and time they spend at last they are done with a well presented and well manage project.
GROWING UP...In the Project-Based Learning Approach will help my students achieve or meet the standards of 21st Century skills. How? By guiding them to their work, as we all know the teacher's role is to facilitate or coach his/her students. So as for me to ensure that my students can achieve or meet the standards of my 21st Century Skills i will guide them to do their work easily but good. For them to meet the standards of the skills that was assign to them, they should know how to balance their work and know their responsibilities to do their work properly. With assessment and content standards at the forefronty of learning, teachers use project approaches to engage students in authentic work and develop 21st Century skills of collaboration, problenm solving and critical thinking. When well-designed, project-based curriculum can yield high quality results for students and rewarding experience for teachers.
ReplyDeleteTo enhance student learning i will make my students understand the process, importance and benefits of projects for them to be inspired to work. Also i will challenge them to do different task for them to think and work with their mind. I will make them develop or enhance their abilities, and widen their knowldege. For me to be able to achieve it, expand their learnings to real-world. As they say that "we need to experience lot of things for us to grow."
In this modern period, technology is the most popular support learning tool for students to meet the high order standards and to develop a certain project. It has useful advantages that could help the students to improve and to make well-designed projects.
ReplyDeleteProjects could also help the students to develop their 21st century skills like the students will become responsible in their duties and they will learn to set high standard goals for the better purposes. the students will improve their communication skills like being creative in communicating with other people, not just in oral but also in written. Students will be given the opportunities or chances to develop, implement and communicate new ideas and to know the importance of diverse perspective and how to respect them. Through projects, students could build teamwork or cooperate to their peers. They could learn on how to analyze a certain problem and formulate a solution to solve it. Lastly, students will learn to have an interaction with other people to make a better community.
Although project-based units require extra planning and preparation and project-based units are long and hard to keep, with the help of technology especially websites in the internet which are really useful, you can easily make a best project-based unit. Technology can help us to plan and prepare it effectively as well as using "hands on" and "minds on".
So we all know that students are at the learning process. The teacher serves as the facilitator or coach of the classroom who enhance the effective teaching and learning. by using projects, the teacher can enhance the learning of the students by , making well-designed project-based units, where in the students ca be open-minded in contributing their opinions and knowledge about a certain project. making projects could empower the students to make decisions and apply their interests and passions to promote and culminate useful products and performances.
PROJECT BASED LEARNING....
ReplyDeleteWhat is PBL all about?? it is use in classroom projects. It helps the students to learn deeper, where the students use technology an inquiry to engage questions relevant in their lives.
It allow students to do their own investigation and develop their valuable skills. They expand their mind and they are able to do things in their own.The students engage in design, problem solving, investigating activities and decission making.
With PBL, students can learn from these experiences which they can take them and apply it real world problems.
Learning Through Projects.Ü
ReplyDeleteWe can promote the 21st century skills to our students with the help of projects. Projects that can make your student think critically and do their projects uniquely and doing them with dedication. In doing projects, students will develop their confidence, their critical thinking skills, interpersonal skills and some other more. these projects can be individually done or doing it by group. But it would be more effective if they would do their projects individually because sometimes when projects are done by group, there would be a bigger chance that some of the members would not participate or they would not do their part, obligation or responsibility an dong their projects, instead they will just depend on their group mate.
These projects can help students to enhance their learnings with the help of project based learning. It can help student to enhance students leanings because it is a student-centered, instructional model. And because project-based learning is a student-centered instructional model, it develops knowledge and skills through an extended task that promotes student inquiry and authentic demonstrations of learning in products and performances. And it also include varied instructional strategies to help students in their leaning styles.
And as a future educator, we must be aware of this PLB because it can enhance/develop our teaching styles and strategies.
ReplyDeleteProjects can make students enhance their leadership, communication skills, teamwork, cooperation and understanding ability as they think a way to make and improve their output. It is a great experience in the part of the student because they can apply their interest and passion in doing their projects.
ReplyDeletewe learn trough project
ReplyDeleteProject Based Learning develops content area knowledge and skills through an extented that promotes students inquiry and auntentic demonstration of learning in product and performce.
These help student to become initiative and responsible on there work.
Student can apply technology to there project by searching on internet.
Now i know the important of PBL i can apply these to my student soon.
I will apply what i learn in this topic or doing project.
Teacher and student play as important role. The student should have skills to do the task anhd the teacher should have a clear instruction so the student will understand the project.Project Will also give you feedback to you.what you have learn to the project. The Student will lear to ther peers and through internet.while they doing there project the student will learn to it.

ReplyDeleteFun and Learn with Projects
Projects really helps students, not only to get higher grades or even to pass the subject. It helps the student in a way that Projects really helps students, not only to get higher grades or even to pass the subject. It helps the student in a way to promote higher order thinking skills in learning, yet it is student centered but the participation of the teacher is also needed. It is good that students enjoyed while doing such projects.Projects are not difficult as long as the students appreciate what they are doing and they will learn in doing it. The teacher will also adressed the 21st century skills with the projects she had given to her students.
Participation of the students and the teacher is very important to achieve the desired learning goals and the desired learning objectives.
When I learn about the PBL i was really thankful beacause it will help me as a future educator. I can apply those important things in my teaching. It will really help me to proposed good projects.

IN THE WORLD OF EDUCATION....
ReplyDeleteTeachers, students and the school community are the very imporntant character in the school. In the four corners of the classroom, the teacher and the student share ideas, information and laughers. There are times that students are having difficulties because of the projects and requirements of their teacher. But these things, eventhough it is hard to do these projects and requirements, the students and teachers sacrifices are not wasted. Through all of these, the sudents learning and knowledge are widening and expanding. Teachers have a important role in the process of the learning of the students. They share their knowledge for the benefits of their students.
Poject-based Learning Approach is a student-centered and it involves students in problem solving and other meaningful tasks. It engage the students to think critically, to work with others and asks questions. It helps the students to learn effectively as well as the teacher. Using PBL helps also the teacher to promote collaboration and promote individual style and creativity of his/her students. Using PBL integrate technology to support learning for the progress and development of the students. Technology makes the works faster and easiest. Children/students can acquire knowledge using technology. Making a project can connect to the real world problems.
Giving projects to exceptional students help them recognize what is the importance of project, can acquire knowledge and how it is apply in their daily lives. Through project, children enhance their abilities and skills like leadership, teamwork, cooperation, communication skills and collaborating with others. Students work individually or in group. But the project for exceptional children can also focus in groups so that students learn and interact with each other, develop their teamwork, leadership, communication and gain more knowledge. Teachers are not only serve as an adviser, you can also serve as a facilitator and guardance. Exceptional children always need guidance for them to easily learn. If they can do the task alone, you can let them to do it but you have to always monitor them. Giving them a projects makes them feel that they can do things like normal children can do. It is not easy to give them a project. The teachers need the participation of the parents and other member of the team in giving the special needs of the children. The children/students learn through projects and at the same time, they gain/acquire knowledge with the help of the teachers, parents, peers/classmates and the other people in the community.
We all know that doing a projects makes burden for us because we have a lot of things to do and accomplish. There are times that our teachers gives a lot of project. We sleep late at night, wake up early to continue the unfinish project. Sometimes we forgot to eat or we cannot eat just to finish our project and to make our project good and meaningful. But these sacrifices will lead us to success. It also develop our eagerness in studying and make proud of ourselves because without these projects, we cannot learn effectively and we cannot develop our skills or our intelligences. Thanks for our teachers that they are continue to teach us and share their knowledge for us and give their very best for us to learn and makes our lives meaningful.

In the field of teaching project-based learning is essential in dealing with the students. It is one of the elements to be considered in teaching them because it brings meaningful learning. Teaching is not just opening a book, making assignments, and grading papers. It’s about understanding and supporting the development of a child. Having a paper and pencil test is not enough for the students to gain knowledge. It is better to have alternative strategies that supplement their needs in learning, and it is more effective if we allow the students to have experiences in terms of hands on, manipulating objects, and the like. As we process those experiences it can determine the weaknesses and strength of a student. Aside from that project work supports the development of both metacognitive and cognitive thinking skills such as collaboration, self-monitoring, analysis of data, and evaluation of information. Throughout the project, Curriculum-Framing Questions challenge students to think and make connections to concepts that matter in the real world. The students are more involved in the construction of knowledge. It stresses skill development and nurtures the development of good habits of mind. It also brings interest to the students to explore and discovered new ideas that will help them to improve their skills, ability, and knowledge.

As I was about to start my adventure in EDIGITECH, mixed emotions filled me...
ReplyDeleteEDIGITECH - Digital Technology. Wow! Nosebleed! The idea of technology being closely intertwined with education made me both nervous and excited. I was nervous because I initially perceive it difficult to think of specific educational activities that includes the use of technology and I personally have difficulties in using the wide array of technologies available today. Amidst these nervousness, a spark of excitement ablaze. Excitement for coming across new opportunities for learning and a foresight of an exciting journey that will lead me to a better grasp of how technology and education could effectively be together.
And the moment of truth, the adventure had began. I started the first leg of the journey in the world of EDIGITECH - Module 1. It was the first door in this course and has lead us to the immense ocean of PROJECTS! All about projects.
That was quite a start! Module 1 was very much loaded with information that is indeed useful and relevant to us, future educators. I had this initial dilemma: how to effectively integrate technology in education. And poof! Module 1 brings in the answers! Talking about technology in education? Then, that's PBL! Not the Philippine Basketball League but rather, Project Based Learning approach. PBL is the foundation of all activities that will transpire in the whole span of EDIGITECH. After Module 1, I now regard PBL as a very vital tool that links classroom learning to the daily events of human life. Through projects, what is learned within the four corners of the classroom are being concretized through worthwhile and actual activities. Projects also possess the essential precursors to stimulate the learners to maximize and meaningfully use their skills and potentials. PBL transforms the students to being just passive receivers of information to active learners. Discovery and exploration is very much encouraged. Students also see the meaning and significance of the lessons learned through the connections to real life as manifested in tasks that promote authentic learning. PBL makes learning more concrete. It is indeed useful in the teaching and learning process, and I am starting to be a fan of this approach.
